DESCRIPTION
HYDRO/BAR is a proprietary self adhesive 40 mil membrane sheet which requires minimal labor for installation. It combines high strength, low temperature adhesion and high temperature stability which creates a superior barrier to limit air and moisture transmission. Unlike air/vapor barriers with no adhesive backing which require stapling, HYDRO/BAR is self adhering. If stapled however, HYDRO/BAR will seal itself around all the staple holes. The combination of 4 mils cross laminated polyethylene and 36 mils rubberzed asphalt produces a product which is tough and resilient to physical damage. HYDRO/BAR is cold applied and requires no maintenance after installation.
USES
HYDRO/BAR is used to prevent air and vapor transmission through masonry curtain walls, construction joints and fittings around doors and windows. Can be applied to wood, concrete, metal and concrete block.
APPLICATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
All substrate surfaces must be dry, clean and smooth. Structural concrete needs to be cured a minimum of seven (7) days. Wood composition panels, especially Oriented Strand Board (OSB) may require priming. When surface cannot be made smooth, HYDRO/BAR can be mechanically fastened with nails, screws or staples.
PRIMER
Prime dusty, weathered or dirty surface with AQUA FLASH Primer. Allow primer to dry prior to installing HYDRO/BAR membrane.
APPLICATION
Cut HYDRO/BAR into manageable lengths and remove the release liner. Apply membrane from the lowest point upward and in a shingle fashion overlap horizontal edges. Use a hand held roller to ensure uniform contact with substrate. Reinforcing strips on all outside and inside corners as well as mechanical fastenings to windows frames and doors is recommended. Seal all terminations, protusions and detailing with AQUA FLASH Mastic.

MODEL GUIDE SPECIFICATION
The product for air/vapor barrier for (WINDOWS, DOORS, etc.) shall be HYDRO/BAR, a composite 40 mil sheet membrane consisting of 4 mils cross laminated polyethlene with 36 mils of rubberized asphalt as manufactured by FIBERWEB div of CLARK/HAMMERBEAM CORPORATION followed by installation instructions.
SAFETY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
HYDRO/BAR is to be installed in ambient temperatures of 50 degrees F and above. When HYDRO/BAR is to be installed below 50 degrees F, store at room temperature and prime the substrate with AQUA FLASH Primer to insure good initial bond.
Pallets of membrane should not be double stacked on jobsite.
Avoid prolonged and repeated contact with skin. Consult Material Safety Data Sheet.
