| Description:
Aquaseal
is a proprietary self adhesive 25 mil membrane sheet
which requires minimal labor for installation. It combines
high strength, low temperature adhesion and high temperature
stability which creates a superior barrier to limit
air and moisture transmission. Unlike air/vapor barriers
with no adhesive backing which require stapling, Aquaseal
is self adhering. If stapled however, Aquaseal will
seal itself around all the staple holes. The combination
of 4 mils cross laminated polyethylene and 21 mils rubberized
asphalt produces a product which is tough and resilient
to physical damage. Aquaseal is cold applied and requires
no maintenance after installation
Uses:
Aquaseal
is used to prevent air and vapor transmission through
masonry curtain walls, construction joints and fittings
around doors and windows. Can be applied to wood, concrete,
metal and concrete block.
Application:
Surface Preparation:
All substrate surfaces must be dry, clean and smooth.
Structural concrete needs to be cured a minimum of seven
(7) days. Wood composition panels, especially Oriented
Strand Board (OSB) may require priming. When surface
is cannot be made smooth, Aquaseal can be mechanically
fastened with nails, screws or staples.
Primer:
Prime dusty, weathered or dirty surface with Aquaflash
Primer. Allow primer to dry prior to installing Aquaseal
membrane.
Application:
Cut Aquaseal into manageable lengths and remove the
release liner. Apply membrane from the lowest point
upward and in a shingle fashion overlap horizontal edges.
Use a hand held roller to ensure uniform contact with
substrate. Reinforcing strips on all outside and inside
comers as well as mechanical fastenings to windows frames
and doors is recommended. Seal all terminations, protrusions
and detailing with Aquaflash Mastic

Guide Specification:
The product for air/vapor barrier for (windows, doors,
etc.) shall be Aquaseal, a composite 25 mil sheet membrane
consisting of 4 mils cross laminated polyethylene with
21 mils of rubberized asphalt as manufactured by Fiberweb
div. of Clark/Hammerbeam Corporation followed by installation
instructions.
Safety,
Storage and handling:
Aquaseal is to be installed in ambient temperatures
of 50 degrees F and above. When Aquaseal is to be installed
below 50 degrees F, store at room temperature and prime
the substrate with Aquaflash Primer to insure good
initial bond.
Pallets
of membrane should not be double stacked on jobsite.
Avoid
prolonged and repeated contact with skin. Consult Material
